Transparent background for images?

Hello, I recently have been theming my control panel, and I noticed that the images for some reason have a white background, if they were to have a transparent background, I feel this would make theming the control panel much easier.

if they have a transparent background and I am wrong, feel free to point that out too, I am still trying to figure out how to theme some of the elements.

I thought they already had transparent backgrounds. Which ones are you having trouble with?

my mistake, the only one I noticed that does not is new.gif

"Z:\UGCCPanel\images\new.gif" has a standard white background
